Simetra sanctuary (sisa) | flower frequencies

Flower Frequencies exists as both documentation of my on-going healing collaboration with a particularly challenged ecology, and as a piece of healing art in and of itself. Inspired by years of co-crafting flower essences, and working with them to assist in calibrating my human electrical system, this collaboration of video portraits has revealed an alternate way of amplifying the love and intelligence of specific plant teachers who have supported (and continue to support) me on my journey. By placing this meditative video within a shared digital realm, we intend for others to receive these healing vibrations, if they so choose...

Colonies of Dame’s Rocket (Hesperis matronalis) in multi-hued magenta waves of bloom are simply glorious. Widely maligned as invasive, these biennials grow up, up, up to bud in clusters; each four-petaled pink flower receiving cosmic rays from above, while exuding an intoxicating, heavenly scent, especially during the magic hour of dusk.

Praised as a desirable native, rhizomatic May Apple (Podophyllum peltatum) is easy to anthropomorphize, with is central ‘torso’ stem, and two ‘arm’ stems supporting two massive leaves per plant. Beyond photosynthesis, these tropical-looking leaves also shade and protect the single (per plant), waxy-white flowers. The ‘head’ of the May Apple documented in the video is midway between an impressively still-vital flower and burgeoning fruit, appearing to me as a radar dish, collecting sonic planetary data with the help of its large, velvety anthers.

Sincere and deepest gratitude to all of the Flowers and Plants, Devas, Nature Spirits, Elementals, and Animals (including an especially enthusiastic Catbird who provided a significant portion of the soundtrack).
